CricSocial™ Frequently Asked Questions
1. What’s the objective of the game?
Score the highest points by playing cards that match real-time events in a live T20 cricket match. Use strategy, instincts, and timing to play, hold, or discard cards—and aim to stay ahead until the final ball.
2. How many players can play?
2 to 8 players. The game scales well and works best during live T20 matches.
3. How to set-up?
- Shuffle the full deck (112 cards)
- Deal 5 cards per player
- Choose 1 Umpire to track scores & manage gameplay
4. How to play?
It’s easy! - Just 3 steps
i). PLAY
In the Live T20 Match, whenever a card event (e.g. Four, Wicket, Dot Ball) happens, any player(s) can play a corresponding Point Card to score points!
AND/OR
Play an Impact Card to gain an advantage! (double points, block rivals, etc.)
ii). REPLENISH
Next, draw new cards to until you have 5 in hand.
iii). DRAW & DISCARD
Every 4 overs, draw 1 card → review → discard 1 (to keep 5 in hand)
4. Who wins?
The player with the highest total points at match-end. Tiebreaker? The one who scored with fewer cards wins—because strike rate matters!
5. Who is the Umpire?
One player is assigned as Umpire to keep score and ensure fair game play. In 2-player games, players can decide via a coin toss. The Umpire will manage the gameplay to keep things flowing smoothly while following the CricSocial™ spirit of the game!
6. What are Point Cards?
Point Cards represent common batting or bowling events (e.g., Fours, Wickets, 50s). Each card carries a point value based on the rarity of the event. Play them immediately after the matching event happens in the live match to score. The Umpire records your score.
7. Can I play a card that I have just drawn for a past event?
Once you draw any card, you CANNOT score points for past events. For e.g. if a Player draws a ‘SIXER’ Card, they will have to wait for the next SIXER to score points. This is to ensure fairness and flow in gameplay. Wait for the next valid opportunity to use it. It’s all about keeping things fair and fun
8. What if two events happen at the same time?
Score both! CricSocial™ rewards action. Just follow the rulebook’s event timing order if needed.
9. What happens after I play any card(s)?
You draw a new one, first review it and then discard any card(s) to maintain five cards in hand.
10. What if I forget to play a card after an event?
No problem! We have a grace period. You CAN still play the card and claim points before the next over ends BUT ONLY IF you haven't drawn a card during those 2 overs.
11. What if I’m stuck with no points?
If you're on zero points after 6 overs, you can use a one-time “Strategic Reset” to swap all five cards for new ones. Great for a comeback.
12. How do Impact Cards work?
Impact Cards don’t score points directly, but they shift momentum. Use them to double your points, block opponents, draw extra cards, or steal from others. Timing is everything.
13. Can we customize how we play? What if we want a quick game?
Absolutely! Try out our gameplay variations:
- Action Mode: More cards in hand, faster gameplay.
- Strategy Mode: Predictive plays with risk/reward dynamics.
- Fan Loyalty Mode: Team-based setup based on match toss.
- Quick Play: Ideal for short bursts or 6-over contests.
14. Can I predict events before they happen?
Only in Strategy Mode. You can place a 2, 3, or 5-point card face-up and call the event for the next ball. If you get it right, double the points. If not, you get minus 2, 3, or 5 points! Like cricket and in life, you must balance risk and reward!
15. What are “Let’s Get Social” prompts?
Optional questions on Point Cards that spark conversation—like "Who’s your least favorite commentator?" They’re meant to keep the vibe fun and social during the game. Because it's not just cricket... it's CricSocial™!
16. What if the live match gets disrupted?
The Umpire decides how to proceed. You can pause, adapt, or use house rules to continue. The idea is to keep the energy and camaraderie going.
17. Can we play without watching the match live?
Sure, though CricSocial is designed to sync with adrenaline rush during live events, you can also play the game on watching replays of T20 matches. That's also a fun way to add new thrills to your nostalgic memories (provided you don't remember ball by ball action!). What more, you'll also unlock the option to fast forward ads!
18. Can we reshuffle the discard pile?
Yes. After the first innings (or if the draw pile runs out), all used cards are reshuffled. In Fan Loyalty Mode, all cards—including those in hand—are reshuffled into batting or bowling decks and redistributed.
19. What’s the CricSocial™ spirit of the game?
- You cannot play Point Cards for past events once you’ve drawn a card
- Don’t slow the game—stay in sync with the live match
- Umpire’s call is final—banter welcome, but keep it friendly
- Respect flow, fairness, and fun!
20. Do DRS Review point cards apply to all reviews?
No. DRS Review cards only apply to player-initiated reviews that end in the final decision being OUT or NOT OUT. Umpire reviews for boundaries, catches, run-outs, or safety checks do not count.
21. How do duration-based and milestone cards work?
(Examples: “Team scores 50 in 6 overs”, “2nd wicket falls before 50”, “Bowler concedes <36 in 4 overs”, Batter Scores 60 Within 36 Balls”, etc.)
The idea behind CricSocial™ is to capture the moment the event actually happens during live play, and to not have to score them later based on retroactive situations.
If the event has already passed, the card opportunity is gone.
Examples:
• “Team scores 50 in 6 overs” → valid as soon as the team reaches 50, or once 6 overs are completed — whichever happens earlier. So, if a team is 45 after 6 overs and the first ball of the 7th over is 5 wides, the “50 in 6 overs” card does not qualify as the 6 overs had already been completed before the team reached 50.
• “60 within 36 balls” → valid as soon as the batter reaches 60, or once ball #36 is completed — whichever happens earlier.
• “2nd wicket falls before team scores 50” → scored as soon as the 2nd wicket falls, if the team score is still below 50 at that moment.
• “Opener out before scoring 10” → scored as soon as the opener is dismissed below 10.
• “3rd wicket falls before team scores 90” → scored as soon as the 3rd wicket falls, if the team score is below 90 at that moment.
• “Bowler concedes LESS than 36 in 4 overs” → players must wait until all 4 overs are completed to confirm the card.
As always, the umpire’s decision is final !
Feel free to tweak house rules to match your group’s vibe and keep the game fun!
22. What if a card’s outcome feels unfair or unclear?
CricSocial™ is designed to reflect cricket’s natural unpredictability — momentum swings and lucky breaks. Trust the card, roll with it, and let the chaos spark the fun. Use your best judgment and keep the vibe strong.
